Intel Corporation is the world’s second largest by sales semiconductor chip maker, the company’s research and development expenditures in the year 2019 totalled more than €12 Billion. Intel mission is to constantly push the boundaries of innovation in order to make people’s lives more exciting, more fulfilling, and easier to manage. Intel offers various products, from Central processing units (CPU) to Graphic processing units (GPU), from high-performance computing (HPC) servers to edge equipment, from memories to automotive related products, from quantum computing to neuromorphic computing, giving customers the flexibility to create advanced computing and communications systems and products. 

Intel R&D in Europe is driven by a network of research, product development and innovation labs spanning the region as well as a variety of Intel Business Units (BU). The BU coordinating the research efforts in Europe is called Intel Labs, which is based in Munich. Intel Labs is very active in German association work groups like the Münchner Kreis, the Bavarian Quantum Computing eXchange, Bitkom, and DFKI, and in European associations work groups like 5G-IA, AIOTI, Networld2020, BDVA, and Digital Europe. 

Intel Lab personnel are involved in FunKI mainly focusing on 5G and beyond scenarios and use cases definition, PHY architecture definition and requirements, MAC-layer related issues, spectrum management activities, monitoring and impacting standard bodies and contributing to the overall dissemination and exploitation activities of the consortium.
